Our 1,000th Job of the Year!

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Each day many of you continue to trust us with your business - and we thank you very much for that.  It is amazing for us here at Rose City Label to see the diversity of work that comes our way.  So much of it is from long time customers and their referrals - this is the greatest compliment you can give to us, so please send your friends and associates to us any time.

This job - the 1,000th time this year that one of you chose Rose City Label - is a simple 2 color address label for a long time Portland customer.  It isn’t especially sexy or exciting, but it is a very nice, functional label that the customer uses to get their logo onto printed literature to promote their business.

We have been doing this label, or a variation of it, for this customer for over 10 years, and we appreciate the order every time it comes in.

Thank you to all of you that continue to trust Rose City Label with all your label printing.

Blueberry Label Printing

Are you Flex-ible?

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

When it comes to flexographic printing, it’s a good question to ask.  With the incredible access to images and data, most will NOT be print friendly.  Even some of the “print ready” artwork will always need to be adjusted for flexography.  Being flex-ible means to being open minded and understand that there are variables, ranges, and options that will accompany any job.  We here at Rose City Label can help you with any questions or concerns that you may have getting your next project off the ground.

Thanks for trusting us with your next project - please call to see how we can help.

Rose Festival Wines

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Rose City Label is once again proud to be a part of the Oak Knoll/Rose Festival Wine Project.  Each year the Rose Festival sponsors a contest for art students to help design the annual commemorative label.  Rose City Label helps with design judging, and also gives the students hands on experience seeing the actual label printed.

A panel of judges including Rose City Label’s Shaun Harris met at the Oregon College of Art and Craft, 8245 S.W. Barnes Rd. Portland tol decide which creative entry they will keep as the 2010 Rose Festival/Oak Knoll Wine Label Contest winner. The winning student will receive a $500 scholarship, special showings and a bonus educational opportunity with professionals at Rose City Label who will work with the student to tweak and refine the work to industry label standards.

For over 20 years Oak Knoll Winery has supported art, education and the Rose Festival with its student label contest. Featuring Oregon’s popular Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, this year’s special selection comes from the 2008 vintage.

What file type should I use?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Easy.  Go Vector.  In the world of print, it’s so easy to choose the wrong file type.

Look below at the images.  Left is Raster and the Right is Vector.

With the easy access to web images and old “morgue” files, the fact is most of the time the files are not good.  These are called Raster images.  Simply put, raster images use pixels to establish an image, whereas vector uses an algorithm to create the image.  The end result is a clean and razor sharp image every time when you choose vector art.

Have questions - please call us today! We’d be happy to help.
