Helpful Customer Links

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Over the years we have accumulated considerable knowledge about labels and label design.  It is a pleasure to share this with customers as they navigate the world of labels.  One of the most important things we have learned is WHERE TO GO for information.  As the saying goes, ‘we don’t need to know everything, we just need to know where to find it.’

Hopefully this collection of links will help you as you design your label and packaging:

Food Labeling Workshop

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

On April 22-23, 2009 Lisa from our Graphics Department attended the Food Labeling Workshop in Corvallis, OR at the Food Science and Technology Building at Oregon State University.  This informative seminar helped us to stay current with a food labeling laws and regulations.

The workshop was attended by about 30 professionals in the food, nutrition, packaging, and marketing industries.  We were the only label company represented at the conference.

“This was a great way to review and confirm all the things I have learned over the past 20 years”, said Lisa.  Highlights included how and when to use ‘Organic’ ‘Natural’ ‘Low Fat’ and other key words to make sure the consumer is correctly informed about a product. “Everyone was very friendly and interested in making sure that they are complying with the current laws”

For more information, visit the FDA Food website, or the Supplement website.

Beer Tax Goes Down!

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

As supporters of the Oregon Brewing Industry, Rose City Label was proud to provide these promotional labels to local micro breweries.  We are happy to report that this huge tax hike was voted down last month.

As reported on Draft Magazine’s website:

“Some good news on a Friday: the proposed beer tax raise in Oregon is dead, at least for now… Oregon currently boasts the country’s lowest tax — less than a penny a 12-oz. glass.  After raising taxes on gas, hospitals, and the rich already this year, the Democratic party didn’t have the votes to push through one more increase. We’ll drink to that.”  See the full article here

Thanks to everyone that joined the fight and called to request these free labels supporting Oregon Brewing.

First ‘Green’ Job out the Door!

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Thanks to our good customers, and their commitment to the environment, we have officially shipped our first job using recycled materials!  Many customers have ASKED about recycled products, but one of you finally took the plunge and paid the small upcharge to run your labels on eco-friendly material.  Well done!

As more customers become aware of these options, and as the prices come down, we expect that green printing will become a redundant phrase - ALL printing will be green!
